our

The Biblical beliefs held by Grandview Pines Baptist Church

The Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Scriptures, consisting of the 66 books of both the Old and New Testaments, are the verbally inspired Word of God, and that they are the supreme and final authority for faith, life, and church. We accept the Authorized King James Version to be the providentially preserved Word of God, without error. Whereas we give special honor to the King James Version, we reject the doctrine of secondary inspiration.

(Psalm 12:6-7; Isaiah 59:21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Godhead

We believe in a Triune God, (Ephesians 2:18) Who is – GOD THE FATHER, Creator of Heaven and earth, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, rich in grace, supreme in love, and measureless in power. He hears and answers prayer. He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

(Matthew 3:16-17; John 4:24; 17:1-3; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

GOD THE SON, JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten Son and born of the virgin Mary. He is the only atonement for the sin of this world by the shedding of His blood on the cross. We believe that He arose bodily, ascended into Heaven and is seated at the Father’s right hand as our High Priest and Only Mediator. We look for His personal, premillennial, imminent return.

(Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1; 10:10-28; 20:28-29; Galatians 4:4; Colossians 2:9)

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, a Person Who is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is sent from God to reprove the world of sin and to regenerate all who receive Christ as personal Saviour. Through Him, the child of God bears fruit that abounds to our account before the Father in Heaven.

(John 15:26; 16:7-11; Romans 8:9-11; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 1:13-14)

The Fall Of Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God but because of Adam’s transgression, the whole human race fell. All men everywhere are sinners, both by nature and by choice.

(Genesis 3:6-24; Isaiah 53:6; John 3:6; Romans 5:12-19; 2 Corinthians 11:3)

The Devil

We believe in a personal devil who was cast out of Heaven and is now the prince of the air. He is the archenemy of God. He has already been judged and someday will be cast into the lake of fire to be tormented day and night, forever and forever.

(Isaiah 14:12-20; Ezekiel 28:14-19; Matthew 25:41; Mark 3:27; John 8:44; 16:11)

The Way Of Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith in the shed blood of the Son of God, which was shed for the sins of all mankind, not merely for a selected few. When someone receives salvation, they are eternally secure. We believe that Heaven and Hell are literal places, prepared of God as the only eternal abode. All those who have been saved shall live eternally with God. All those without Christ shall abide in the lake of fire forever, eternally separated from God.

(John 3:16; 10:27-29; Romans 6:23; 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-9; Revelation 19:20; 20:14; 21:10-27)

The Church

We believe local churches consist of regenerated believers who have been scripturally baptized and are banded together for worship, work, and spiritual fellowship, spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only church ordinances and are not necessary for salvation.

(Matthew 16:16-18; 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 1:1-13; 11:2; 23-34; Acts 5:11; 8:1; 11:21-23; Philippians 1:1; Acts 14:23; 15:22; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; Acts 20:17, 28)

The Sanctified Life

We believe in Bible separation, that is, to be set apart from the world, sin, self, and Satan, and to be separated “unto the praise of His glory” and the furtherance of the Gospel.

(Romans 12:1-2; Philippians 2:12-13; 2 Peter 1:5-8; 1 John 2:15-17)

The Great Commission

We believe that all believers are to be witnesses unto the lost for Christ. We believe that all believers have certain God-given gifts and talents and are stewards for God. Some are called to preach or to other special ministries. We also believe that all who have rejected the Gospel or who have never heard the Gospel are lost, and that it is every believer’s responsibility to help get the Gospel to everyone. This commission involves evangelism at home through the local church and abroad through the support of world-wide missions.

(Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Romans 15:19-20; 1 Corinthians 9:16; 1 Thessalonians 3:2)

The Last Things

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ shall descend from heaven with a shout and “catch up” all those who have received Him as their personal Saviour. We believe this rapture will occur before the tribulation period, in which God will judge this world. We believe that after that seven year tribulation, the Lord Jesus Christ will return with His people and rule and reign on this earth for one-thousand years (the Millennial reign of Christ) while Satan is bound in hell. That after that reign, Satan will be loosed for a season and fight against God one last time. He and all those with him will be defeated and cast into the lake of fire after the final Judgement before Christ. At that time, all who have accepted Christ as Saviour will live with Him for all eternity, but those who rejected Christ will be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity.

(1 Corinthians 15:20-28; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 7:14; 20:11-15; 21-22)

The Definition Of Marriage

We believe that the only true, natural and Biblical definition of marriage to be the union of one man and one woman for one lifetime. Anything that ventures outside of the order that God created from the beginning is unnatural and unhealthy for the individuals and the family unit. All forms of inordinate affection, such as homosexuality, bestiality, polygamy, pedophilia, fornication (sexual acts outside the bonds of marriage) and adultery are sin and incompatible with a close walk with Christ. Jesus even made it clear in the New Testament that God’s intention was never for divorce to be an acceptable practice either. Thought we welcome those who have been divorced to grow spiritually with us, we will continue to encourage the next generation that divorce is not God’s plan and should not be an option when entering into the sacred bond of marriage.

(Matthew 5:31-32; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:2-12; Romans 1:26-32)
