THE CRUCIFIED LIFE – PART 5
By Pastor Jared Decker
v20. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
v11. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Part 5 of the Series:
The Crucified Walk
1 John 1:5-7
Today I want us to focus on perhaps the most unfocused area of our Christianity today…the Crucified Walk.
Somehow, Bible believing Christians have bought into the thought that all the little things of life don’t matter…just preach Jesus.
We want to believe that the words “God knows my heart” is some kind of magical way to justify our actions and choices.
v24. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
v25. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Our walk does matter! It matters so much, that the Scriptures are filled with instructions for our Christian walk. It takes commitment.
The Crucified Walk is three-fold:
1. It is Internal.
This is my Walk with God.
Our walk with God is of the utmost importance for our life.
v6. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
v7. Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
2 John 1:6
v6. And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
3 John 1:4
v4. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
2. It is External.
This is my Walk for God.
v5. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Why must we walk in wisdom toward the world?
v10. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We must walk for God in this world, that the world may understand the difference that God makes in a life.
v8. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
v12. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
v13. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
v14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.
1 John 2:6
v6. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
3. It is Eternal.
This is my Walk before God.
We must understand that our walk is eternal; it is before the eyes of a Holy, Righteous God, who is our Judge.
v16. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
v17. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
v18. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
The only thing you are promised in Christ for eternity is a home in heaven. Everything else is determined by our walk.
v13. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
v14. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
v15. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
v16. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
1 Thessalonians 2:12
v12. That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
I CHALLENGE YOU, CHRISTIAN, WALK WORTHY!
