THE CRUCIFIED LIFE – PART 6

By Pastor Jared Decker

Galatians 2:20
v20. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 6:11
v11. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Part 6 of the Series:

The Crucified Life
Romans 6:5-11

We have spent the last five weeks discussing the various aspects of the Crucified Life: the heart, mind, flesh, will, and walk.

Today, I want to finalize this series by looking at the total perspective of what it means to live the crucified life.

In Romans 6, we are given a summary of the two distinctly different ways of life…the old man and the new man.

Because He was crucified, Christ gave us the ability to live, not only in eternity, but here and now.

The crucified life is about making the moment by moment choices to live the life that Christ has so sacrificially provided.

The Crucified Life is seen in the three-fold area of our life:

1. In Our Home.

Our Christianity starts in the home, because it is in the home that we really are ourselves.

Joshua 24:15
v15. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Our churches, our schools, our nation is in a calamitous condition because of the lack of true Christianity in the home.

Psalms 101:2
v2. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

If the next generation is to know what the Biblical Christian life is, it will be because they have learned from us, IN ACTION.

2. In Our Church.

No church can survive unless it is dead…dead to itself.

Ephesians 4:15-16
v15. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
v16. From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

No body functions when its members are not in one accord for one purpose…life. No church can survive without this either.

Hebrews 10:24-25
v24. And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
v25. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

3. In Our Community.

We have a God-given responsibility for our testimony to be shown to the world.

Matthew 5:13-16
v13. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
v14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid
v15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
v16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The world will only know the light of life as they see the light of God through our lives.

Acts 1:8
v8. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Are you living a life that is crucified to Christ.
The only way to live is to die!
