By Pastor Jared Decker

First Mention: Ezekiel 48:35
It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.

Meaning: The Lord Is There

This passage is describing the same city, the New Jerusalem, that is described in Revelation 21:9-13. This name of Jehovah doesn’t just give us hope for the future, but also hope for the present.

Psalms 139:3-10
– David’s description of the Lord’s presence.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

The LORD is there…

1. For Those Who Need A Redeemer.

We know from Ezekiel and Revelation that the LORD will be in Heaven, but will you be there?

Who is there that needs a Saviour…the LORD is there.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:8-9
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Psalms 145:18
18The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

Who is there that needs to know heaven will be your home…the LORD is there.

Sadly, the Lord is also there to execute judgment on those that do not receive Him. He will be there, on the throne to pronounce sentence to those who rejected Him.

Luke 10:10-16 – The sending of the seventy.
Read from Bible

Will you accept His invitation to be your redeemer and Saviour…He is there, waiting.

2. For Those Who Need A Rescuer.

Psalms 18:2-3
2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Psalms 34:15-17
15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Those terrible problems and times we go through that are the result of the rain falling on the just and unjust.

Those problems and issues we encounter that make our faith stronger or reveal it to be weaker than it ought to be.

Those problems we are meant to endure for the cause of Christ and the spread of the Gospel.

Those problems and troubles God puts us through to test our fortitude or to prove it to Satan.

3. For Those Who Need A Reliever.

His presence should bring relief and comfort to the people of God. He is with us…He will not leave us.

Psalms 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

When God takes us through the trials, tribulations, and testings that He has designed for our good, He is there.

Sometimes we seek comfort, when what we need is courage.

Why complain about the problem?
Rejoice in the opportunity.
You have the chance to grow in Grace,
Take hold of the possibility.
The reward is worth the suffering,
There’s glory some sweet day.
Praise God for the problems on your way.

Why worry or fret about something you can’t fix or change?

…Just find comfort in the fact that the LORD is there.

He knows what’s happening. He knows what you’re going through. He’s already been there and bore it on His shoulders.

Isaiah 53:4
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

4. For Those Who Need A Reviver.

Who needs the will to continue…the strength to go on…the desire to see a lost world won for Christ…the heart for God again that makes His desires mine…the LORD is there.

Philippians 4:9
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Paul told the church at Philippi to do what they ought to do and the LORD would be there.

Because He is present, He knows what we need to continue and has already provided those things for us.

2 Peter 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

True liberty and freedom come from living in His presence.

II Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Whatever the need of your heart is today…the LORD is there.
